Title: 2000 with George W Bush and John McCain as the GOP ticket
Post by: Lincoln Republican on November 22, 2005, 08:58:18 PM
What if, in 2000, Republican Presidential nominee Governor George W Bush, in a practice not unknown, put his main rival for the nomination, Senator John McCain of Arizona, on the ticket as the VP nominee?

We will assume that Senator McCain willingly accepts the VP nomination, and that Governor Bush and Senator McCain work well together, in spite of their past differences.

What impact, if any, do you believe this would have had on the outcome of the 2000 Presidential election?

George W Bush/John McCain v Al Gore/Joe Lieberman

Can we see some maps of how you believe this election would have turned out?

It would have depnded on how much straining there would have been between W and McCain. With as much as McCain got bashed in the primaries, it would have been tough to seem like friends.
