Title: Describe a poor Landon 1936 voter Post by: buritobr on July 23, 2017, 09:39:01 AM There was a big class split in the 1936 election. FDR was the candidate of the working class, Landon was the candidate of the most of the voters who owned a telephone at home.
However, there were no 16,683,574 rich Americans in 1936. Since Landon had these votes, some poor people voted for him. Which kind of voter was the low class Landon voter? I'd argue it wasn't Goldwater, but rather Kennedy and the fact that Nixon refused to campaign in New England in 1960, 1968, and 1972. Johnson would have been the first ever Democrat that they voted for.
