Title: Major places that went from solidly Democratic to solidy GOP (pres. elections)

Virginia Beach City (formerly Princess Anne County)
Once: 80% for Davis
Now: 59% for Bush

Houston County, Texas
Once: 74% for FDR
Now: 66% for Bush

Post any others you know.

How about any non-Southern counties, because nearly every county in the South is bound to fit this profile.

Well, if you rule out the South and Plains States, I can't think of too many places that have trended from Dem to GOP.  However, I can think of a long list of places that have done the opposite -Vermont, Connecticut, Los Angeles and Long Beach (Heck, California in general), Philadelphia (as Flyers will point out gladly), and the list goes on...

Houston is not in Houston County.
