Title: Rockefeller Abandons Run for Arkansas Gov.
Post by: MAS117 on July 19, 2005, 05:01:28 PM
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Lt. Gov. Win Rockefeller said Tuesday he was abandoning his run for governor, an office his father held for two terms, because of a blood disorder that could eventually turn into leukemia.

Rockefeller, 56, said it would be unfair to his political supporters to continue his campaign against former
Homeland Security Undersecretary Asa Hutchinson for the Republican nomination in 2006.

That's too bad.  I liked the guy.

Who wins a Hutchinson-Beebe contest?  I see there's a Green and an independent as well - does either have the potential to affect this race?

That means that Hutchinson should have a much easier time winning. From what I've heard, Beebe's big chance was a divisive primary. I'll move it from weak lean GOP to strong lean GOP.

Rockefeller was the GOP's best possible candidate by far; being a Republican who's not based in the Ozarks is always a plus in Arkansas.
