Lol, those were the three I was fairly sure on.  I guess we agree on Minner for sure.

Bob Taft - everything
Ernie Fletcher - dunno, this is Al territory
Matt Blunt - dunno either
Jennifer Granholm - bad economy
Rick Perry - Rick Perry rubs a lot of Republican Texans the wrong way, especially with that massive toll-road idea and some with re-districting too, though only people who are going to vote against him already care about the latter.  They will still vote him over any Democrat, but that's because the Democrats believe in nominating someone like Chris Bell, who no one likes.
About the poll, SurveyUSA is usually good in Texas, but I would be careful since this is a poll of adults, and I would bet that at least a third of the adults in Texas aren't registered voters, much less US citizens.
Ted Kulongski - Goldwater knows Oregon politics, I don't.
John Baldacci - Maine's economy sucks.
Haley Barbour - dunno
Ruth Ann Minner - I should know something about Delaware, but I don't.
Jim Doyle - dunno

I can only really help in Texas.

Several reasons... the fact that there's an ongoing grand jury whatsit probe into his administration's hiring practices (with allegations of corruption, patronage, nepotism... you get the idea...) and the fact that several of his aides have been indicted along with some other officials in his administration and the Chair of the KY Republicans... can't have helped things, and neither has his response to the whole mess either (accusing Attorney General Stumbo of a witchunt/vendetta/conspiracy etc. against him)... but he was moderately unpopular before then.

Blunt has been too busy fighting obesity in Kansas City instead of fixing Missouri's economic troubles like he promised in the campaign.

Jim Doyle has cut education spending which has turned a bunch of teachers against him. (He said in his campaign he wouldn't do it) Republicans really don't like him and it doesn't help that he was elected in the first place with only 45% of the vote.

Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin rely on the economy being good for middle class people. But all three states are feeling the pinch and it doesnt matter whether they are republican or democrat all three would struggle. Does Rendell have a rating above 50? I doubt it.

Bob Taft - Everything he touches turns to crap.

Ernie Fletcher - Various scandals.

Matt Blunt - I hear he's been avoiding doing anything controversial about economics.

Jennifer Granholm - Bad economy; economics are her weakest area.

Rick Perry - Lots of "don't like him, but I'll vote for him" Republicans.

Ted Kulongski - I live next to this state and I can't quite tell.  High unemployment, maybe.  The fact I hear little about him might be an indication of why.

John Baldacci - Middling economy, although that doesn't explain his cratering approval ratings.

Haley Barbour - Honestly, I'm not sure.  The south just doesn't like governors.

Ruth Ann Minner - Let's go with ugly.

Jim Doyle - Midwesterners love their education systems.  If a Democrat cuts it, no one will like them.

Blunt's administration basically got rid of health care for a lot of poor people.

That tends to go over poorly.

Basically a lot of it is negative reaction to the cuts he wanted.

And there's some possible corruption with the state government and private corporations too.

Jennifer Granholm - Bad economy; economics are her weakest area.

It's not her fault the entire rust belt has turned to sh**t.

Wasn't it just a few months ago we were talking about how popular she is and how she'll be unbeatable in '06? There was even talk about how if she had been born in the U.S., she'd be a great Presidential candidate. Things must have gotten pretty bad and she must have some responsibility for such a drastic turnaround.

Well, she's still one of the most popular governors, among Democrats, outside Michigan. Haha. I think my comments on her favorable ratings might have been a little short-sighted, though she's still going to win. And you should note the distinct unpopularity among midwestern governors (Doyle, Granholm, Blagojevich, Taft, previously Indiana, probably Rendell in W. Pa.).

Granholm is going to win, my guess

most likely matchup
Granholm 55%
DeVos  44%

unlikely
Granholm 52%
Miller  47%

these are +/- 3%  of course

You got that right Alcon, especially when they run and say they won't cut it. -_-
