Title: 2020 census and the 2024 Electoral College Map
Post by: Seneca on November 20, 2016, 10:43:50 AM
Now that we are half way through this decade, can we make any predictions about how the electoral college map will change after the 2020 census?

every state has actually been gaining more people over the past 16 years (except MI maybe).  It seems kinda unfair to decrease seats

Why don't we also give DC a seat FINALLY and increase the number of seats in the House -- from 435 to 445.  Ten new seats instead of taking away from other states.

That would be something I'm okay with.

The law says that the HoR is fixed at 435, which is such a stupid law, but that's what you get when it's the late 20's

We do one of these threads each year in response to the annual Census release. Here's last year's projection (https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=224498.msg4837582#msg4837582).

It is smart because inevitably the HoR would get so large that it would be unfunctionable.
