Title: An Idea for Future Elections
Post by: Free Bird on March 12, 2015, 10:04:36 AM
Just an idea that popped in my mind

- Get rid of parties
- Divide the election up between 4 regions- northeast, Midwest, south, and west.
- This will make 4 presidents, and thus encourage cooperation
- Make each region have two rounds on the same two days: a jungle primary and six months later a runoff between the top two nonpartisan candidates.
- Each candidate will need a majority +1 of THEIR REGION'S electoral votes to win.
- The new executive living quarters will be in the largest cities in each region, and they will convene in the White House

What do you think of this idea?

Four presidents is worse disorganization than anything Yugoslavia ever had. That kind of dysfunction can't be exaggerated.

Also, whatever there flaws, political parties encourage some consistency. This would be a breeding ground for careerist politicians with no views.

Do you have a fetish for incredibly bad ideas?

For a 10-year-old these are even somewhat original.
