If Collins gets 60%, no way. Urban-rural divide isn't big here.

>UNH, trash it.

Looks like there's some disagreement on whether Collins will win by a massive 35+ point landslide (this and Pan Atlantic) or a slightly less but still enormous 20-25 point landslide (Ipsos and YouGov).

I was mocking people who made a thread before of what counties Collins would win or lose.

Okay, I wasn't aware of such a thread.

Why not? She was up by by 55 in June. Bellows clearly has the momentum in this race.

Yes! At this rate she will tie Collins around May 2015!

That's the spirit. She'll have everybody in Maine voting for her by the rematch in 2020.

The only thing that will get Collins out (unless she retires) is death. However, once she's out, Maine won't have a republican senator for a (very) long time...

Kind of mirroring West Virginia. But I wouldn't count out Maine. Summers probably would have won had King not jumped it

Nah. If King hadn't jumped in, either Michaud or Pingree (who were both considering senate bids until King spooked them off) would have been the nominee and easily dispatched Summers.

Probably, yes. I don't see another Collins or Snowe in Maine's Republican party. and party itself became markedly more  conservative - in the past it routinely ran  substantial number of pro-choice candidates, for example. Right now i know about few for state Senate, and almost no one - for state House..

Why does Maine keep electing America's worst senator?

Collins is far from worst. In Republican party - probably even the best or, at least, among the best..

Well I'd argue one of the most admirable things about him was that he refused to leave or be pushed out of the Republican Party.  He had a vision for what he wanted it to be, and he tried to change it from within.

So you like Republicans who aren't actually Republicans, good to note.

Absolutely. I absolutely prefer situation of 1960-80's, when Republicans had Javits, Case, Mathias and so on, and when there was a healthy choice of conservative Democrats in the South, to present day hyperpolarized idiocy. I, personally, (and many people i know) am forced to support not a candidate whom i like more these days, but those whom i hate less, and vote holding my nose.

P.S. That's exactly the reason i was banned so many times on DKE and RRH. I don't  like neither far right nor far left. And most people on these partisan sites belong to one of these two categories. So, one can imagine what happened on DKE when i called Obama a "second worst President since 1932"(after Bush Jr.)....
