It's sort of telling what the point was when in the Superintendent of Education race, they trumpeted the Republican having only a ten point lead (45-35) as an indicator of a competitive race.

I wonder if he's getting more support from black voters, even if its just a little bit. With South Carolina's electorate in order to get 60% as a Republican you have to get >80% of whites.
