Why is New York still not finished counting ? Or are they ?

And if not, how many votes are still out and when are they expected to be released ?

It's almost 2 months after the election already.

What does it matter? All of the outstanding votes are from New York City, so it's not like it would change the result of the election in any significant way.

So you don't believe in counting all the votes? It's fine for 400,000 voters in New York not to have their votes counted in your opinion?

If the only thing you care about is who wins the election, then the vote counting should have stopped the moment Romney conceded the race.

I thought the whole point of an election is that each vote is just as important as every other vote. If you don't count every vote, you're violating that principle.

I did find updated totals for Westchester and Nassau that Wasserman hasn't added, so there are votes out there still be included.  Things are never final and official until boards meet and declare them as such and I doubt the various boards feel any great need to meet over the holidays, so maybe January.

I hope my vote got counted...

Super Storm Sandy made it almost impossible this year.  A lot of people were displaced from their normal precincts.

So you're saying Sandy caused an unusual amount of provisional ballots?

Yeah, but NJ managed to finish counting a few weeks ago. Also, many of the counties that haven't finished counting/took forever were affected minimally by Sandy. (Westchester County in particular, but also a bunch of small upstate counties.)

There ya go. We had the same thing happen here in the last election during Hurricane Ike in 2008, it took about almost New Year's Day to get every vote counted in Southeast Texas. I bet it might take slightly longer than that for NY due to the higher population.
