Title: 50 Most Populated Counties
Post by: fezzyfestoon on November 29, 2012, 07:40:57 PM
Only ten trended towards Romney, six of which are in the last thirteen. Just sayin'...

They were:
San Diego, CA
Orange, CA
Palm Beach, FL
Oakland, MI
Travis, TX
Salt Lake, UT
St. Louis, MO
Westchester, NY
Fulton, GA
Fresno, CA

Fresno most certainly did not trend to Romney and even Orange and San Diego counties are on the edge....is the trend map being updated as more votes come in?

Probably, I made mine last week. I'll check them all periodically. I didn't think they'd have changed that much.

Westchester County will likely have trended towards Obama in the end as well. They haven't counted any of their late vote yet, and that's typically quite Democratic. Orange, Fresno and San Diego Counties have all trended towards Obama now, so they're off the list.

Some of these results are final, though (Florida, Georgia, Michigan). Salt Lake County also obviously trended Romney, though Utah isn't done counting. Still have to wait on St. Louis County and Travis County (suspect late vote will be disproportionately students, so I think Travis will trend Obama, but we'll see; late vote in St. Louis County is also probably disproportionately black, though again we shall see).

You also have to remember that not all of Fulton is urban, the northern part of it contains pretty conservative suburbs that probably swung to Romney, so the county itself doesn't tell the whole story.
