We can only hope.

He seriously has been a really good Senator so far, though. He seems to be incredibly hard working.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him make a run someday if he stays as the type of senator he is right now. Maybe in consideration for VP.

Yes, but he really need to gain a reputation first and them think about higher office. He's still considered by many as primarly a comedian.

Btw, why are we still talking about present-day figures? They really getting old.

I don't think he is in line, senority wise for the presidency, I think more in the lines of Russ Feingold or Rahm Emanual.  But he sure would make a good vice presidencial pick.

He (controversily) beat Coleman in a close race when Obama beat McCain by 9 points. In 2014, there will be no race for President, meaning lower turnout, which can be beneficial to Republicans more than Democrat, IMO. Especially if someone high-calibar like Pawlenty challenges Franken, Franken is toast.

So no, I don't see him ever running for President or Vice President.

Sounds like a disaster almost as bad as Bush (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Why_Not_Me%3F#The_Presidency)

Way to liberal to win.  It would be like Ann Coulter running for the republican nomination.

Franken's not serving more than one term.

Al Franken would cause me to vote for the Republican, even if it were Huckabee or Palin.

Of course if lucky Franken would run against one of the 30 pro-gang rape GOP senators.

That's right, I said: "Pro-gang rape". Read and watch

If you want to make a fully informed decision, take 6 minutes of your life and listen to Franken presenting his amendment on the senate floor. I'll be damned if the comedian hasn't come into his own.

And do yourself a favor and see Jon Stewart's take on the "debate" over rape.

This *really* pissed me off when I heard about it.  All of those senators are disgusting.  Listening to them try to justify their opposition was sickening.

Cornyn just lost my vote when he is up for re-election. I dont like Franken but it is hypocritical to defund ACORN which was right to do but then vote this down.

Good for you. I'd probably vote against cutting off or seriously reducing ACORN funding too (gasp! liberal apostasy!). For all the right made them a straw man and wrongly claimed it was actually registering fraudulent voters (as opposed to hiring schmoes who would falsely fill in the registration forms with Mickey Mouse or the Dallas Cowboys lineup and thus rip ACORN off for a quick buck), ACORN has proven it simply can't manage itself right now and SERIOUSLY needs to clean house.

For all the undeniable good work ACORN's done in the past for lower income Americans, there are many other well run nonprofits out there with the same goals and the added bonus of actually having their s%it together who currently deserve that funding much more.

Not the first choice of candidates, but he can still try to get the voters by accomplishing things legislatively.
