We just went plant/tree/flower shopping at a local store that was offering 20% off plus a 15% senior discount.  We got two pallets of flowers, a big hanging plant, and two 5 ft. tall bur oak trees for $55.

It was so cute.. you should've seen my grandma... she looked like a kid in a candy store.  "Oooh Bryan.. just look at these alyssums.. so healthy!  In other years you come at this time of year and everything is all burnt and dried up... oh this is just so great!!  Isn't this just too much fun?!?!?"

Nothing makes my grandma happier than boutique, crafts, and gardening.  She has these little stalls at a craft mall where she sells hand crocheted hand towels that hang by the sink... and little hand made pot holders and such... and she barely charges enough to cover the cost of the materials.. because it would be unseemly to overcharge and make a profit!  She's such a good Norwegian Minnesotan.

I just thought I'd share.

Oh, and just to top it off.. a picture of my sister's dog Bacon... He's a very handsome hound!

She's 79.  She's very healthy and active for her age... though her boss is even more active (still dances and jogs and xc skis) and she just turned 89.

Well that's very good news. I wish my grandma (both of them) lived that long.

I miss my grandparents horribly.

My only complaint with the four of them was - how did you produce such hideous offspring?  Wink

Wow, my grandma is 79 as well and looks much younger Smiley

My second grandma passed away at 73 last July, shorthy after I joined this horrible place.

I miss my grandmother quite a bit, but it isn't the time for that much sad nostalgia. It's already bad enough to be leaving school and remembering all the lunch moments. Sigh.

I remember driving my grandmother, my 80-year-old aunt, and my other 75-year-old aunt to a wedding. The first part of the car ride was mostly silent. Then someone spotted a flower.

Thus began the most animated, 30-minute-long discussion of flowers I've ever been witness to.

Old ladies love flowers. It's a fact.
