Is it possible that I could see one of the "homophobic trolling" posts that got 10 death points?  This arouses my curiosity. Is it possible to be against gay rights and not get death points?  I assume that it still is, but just where is the line that defines the pale that one must not cross?

I assume one of them was the one where he said that allowing gay marriage in churches would lead to bestiality.

Assuming as I do that jmfcst is not a terminal dumb, that seems more in the nature of an "epic fail" at humor. Assuming for the sake of argument, that he was serious, then I suppose the point is that when you say something outrageous, it behooves one to lay out one's case step by step (yes, in this case, the case is ludicrous, but whatever), rather than just do a hit and run. Make sense, or am I just drowning here in my own confusion?

As much as I disagree with what jmfcst is saying in getting these infractions and think he's being ridiculous and insanely distorting the whole issue (just read the thread) I do have to respect him for being willing to take a stand and accept what's coming, as I've noted before Jesus Christ received a far worse "infraction". I too have been infracted for speaking of and preaching Christianity, of which I'm sure jmfcst disagrees with my vision of, but the principle underneath is the same. As I noted earlier, there is a definite correlation between being an outspoken Christian and the death points you have.

jmfcst your post had 3 little problems it seems to me: 1) it turns out that the nose in the tent (churches will have to host gay weddings), was ersatz to the point of being embarrassing, 2) your slippery slope after getting your ersatz nose in the tent contending that the slide is so greasy that before you know it, churches will have to turn themselves into gay bathhouses where "pets" are allowed to boot is beyond ersatz and into the bizarre, and of course offensive, so that leads to 3) when you get really "edgy" like this, you had better lay out your case in detail, rather than do a hit and run, because when you combine 1, 2 and 3, it does seem to be well within the zone of the word I really don't like, but is out there, to wit, offensive trolling.  

No doubt reasonable minds can differ, but that is how I see it.

Sorry to beat this to death, but I have an do have an interest in moderation being reasonably consistent, using rules that are reasonably easy to understand and follow, and which don't punish one for one's views outside something really hatful, the very existence of which on this Forum would be a personal embarrassment to us all.  And obviously it is not easy, and I don't mean to suggest that the mods are doing anything but doing the best they can, with perhaps a few lapses of judgment here and there, because none of us are perfect.

Or just accept that we are imperfect, own up to our mistakes and try to make amends, and follow the Golden Rule. KISS baby. But hey, whatever works - different strokes for different folks. If all posters tried in good faith to follow the Golden Rule, the mods would soon by like Maytag repairmen. Really. That in the end is what it comes down to, in about 99% of the instances as I see it.
