This far out, I see this coming down to McAuliffe (money, institutional backing) and Carroll-Foy (next generation, grassroots support) with Carroll-Foy having the edge due to gender, racial, and geographic advantages.

I like her, but Del. Jennifer Carroll-Foy (who has only just won a second term) needs to prove she has statewide appeal by running for a lower-level statewide office like either Lt. Governor or Attorney General before anyone can consider her as a viable gubernatorial candidate.

McAuliffe filed paperwork yesterday to set up a 2021 gubernatorial campaign committee. He appears to be running.

That likely ends the primary before it began.

yeah it's over before it begins. oh well

So now we turn our attention to the race for Lt. Governor and Attorney General...

Yeah, the gubernatorial 1-term limit is actually pretty great for bench-building.

Off-year elections, on the other hand, need to go the way of LA.
? Louisiana still has off year elections...

As well as Mississippi and Kentucky.
