Rick Perry indicted!

Rick is just freaking out because the legal proceedings will almost definitely still be ongoing when he leaves office - and then he'll have to foot his own legal bill instead of relying on the governor's office general counsel. Lack of money is the cause of much of Perry's behavior in office - he can use his power as governor to live the high life on the public dole and throw plenty of gifts to the state's corporate kingmakers in hopes of getting some well-paying cupcake corporate board positions after he leaves office.

So Dewhurst gets to be governor after all.

"Turning yourself in" is just a procedural move in this case since Perry is not going to be taken into custody. He was charged so he has to be formally booked and photographed, but he's not going to remain in the jail and it doesn't imply admission of guilt. There may be some restrictions on him traveling or leaving the country, depending on whether the judge thinks he's a flight risk.
