Hard to find a consistent version of this song by Steve Goodman. Just a bunch of live performances with varying modifications.

I discovered this song thanks to a documentary from the early 1990s about trains in various films and the ending credits had this song playing. It was written by Goodman and then made famous by Arlo Guthrie, but I am partial to Goodman because of that documentary.

I was listening to this last night into the early morning hours and with the site being down and all of the panic on discord, I started to rewrite it beginning with the second half, and eventually worked backwards and rewrote the whole thing for the occasion:

But all the threads and people
seem to fade into a bad dream
And all the posters, they ain't heard the news
The moderator sings his song again,
The posters will please refrain
This site has to disappear in internet blues
