This certainly is the conservative radio talking point of the day.

Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter spent probably an hour talking about this, bringing up the standard "librul hypocrites" argument by contrasting this with Bill Clinton's escapades, and comparing Herman Cain to Clarence Thomas. Coulter went on a tangent that African Americans were a historically oppressed group (and had always been kept down, of course, by Democrat laws!!) but women weren't, and therefore modern sexual harassment laws were bogus. Then they played that clip from Clarence Thomas where he called his confirmation hearing a "high tech lynching for uppity blacks."

I only listened to Erik Erikson for a short while after Hannity ended (my drive was almost over), but he actually offered some interesting analysis rather than the cookie-cutter talking points. He pointed out that all former and current officials of the National Restaurant Association who've been asked about it have said they didn't know anything about the settlements, hinting that the scandal couldn't have been anything too serious. Erikson then pointed out how this scandal was anonymously leaked to Politico the day before Cain was set to make a major speech, and compared it to the 2008 primaries where every candidate except Romney suffered from a similarly well-timed scandal. Then he suggested that Romney's team leaked this to Politico, not only to damage Cain directly, but also to take the media focus away from George Will's scathing editorial against Romney (which was also leaked to Politico the day before).

So, take that as you will.

Wow, Cain's organization must be horrible, then. I was assuming the reason Cain and his people have done such horrible damage control was because they were getting blind-sided out of nowhere with something that happened two decades ago. But seriously, they knew it was coming ten days in advance but they didn't even bother to prepare the barest semblance of a response/rebuttal? Cain and his staff are in waaaay over their heads.
