An underperformance.

South Dakota Democrat:
Biden won because he wasn't Trump.

ugabug:
Because the majority of the population can't stand Trump.

President Johnson:
The short version: Because people were tired of Trump's clownshow and his utter incompetence, and Biden in many ways was the exact opposite (experienced, rational, not bombastic). Democrats nominated him because he seemed the safest bet to beat Trump.
