Bill Richardson
Has been a Congressman, Ambassador, Secretary of Energy, and Governor (in other words, he's familiar with everyone's job). He's more than ready to deal with immigration issues. In Congress he focused on foreign policy and personally negotiated the release of US scientists captured by Saddam.
In his first year as Gov of New Mexico he proposed and passed state tax cuts to promote growth. He also made New Mexico the first state to provide life insurance for active duty National Guardsmen. He's partnered with private enterprises to expand and improve New Mexico's infrastructure.
He's likable, he's electable, and for God's sake the man has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize several times!
