I think it is good to see that Mr. Trump is going to the border to see the situation there for himself. Too many Republican candidates just talk about the border, without exposing themselves to its dangers, without really ever putting their necks on the line, and without ever actually doing anything about it. I am not sure if he will try to take matters into his own hands while he is down in Laredo, and I am not sure whether that would be good for his campaign. But this will pay off with GOP primary voters all across the country. And when the Texas primary rolls around, Trump will be in a good position to beat Rick Perry and Ted Cruz on their own turf, since he has already campaigned in Texas.

Trump will be destroyed in Texas, just like everywhere else because he doesn't understand the border or immigration. In fact, he's a clueless clown on everything. I'm done calling him a socialist because socialists are human.

If you were referring to a billionaire capitalist as a socialist, you don't get to call other people clueless clowns.

Don't be surprised if Trump does better in Texas - and especially along the Rio Grande - than you may think.

Although some Hispanics may not like him, there is also a strong tradition of clientelism in Texas border politics. As Donald Trump has said, Hispanics love him, because he'll put them to work. Jobs can win votes.

An experienced businessman like Trump has a much better, more pragmatic, and more realistic plan than just making up a number (4%!) and saying that they have a secret plan in which magically there will be 4% growth, like certain other candidates are doing.

Leaving aside the fact that you don't make a substantive argument and that it's not at all clear what your point is, you are violating fair use by just pasting in so much of that article.

I was responding to this idea that Trump is some sort of great capitalist. He ran a professional sports league into the ground. He's had 4 bankruptcies. He's benefited from corporate welfare. He supports government-run health care. He supports a wealth tax. He opposes free trade. This idea he's some sort of great conservative is a joke, and it shows the ignorance of some.

Capitalism is all about making money, by any and all means.

That's precisely what Donald Trump has done.

Of course he is a great capitalist.

As for who is a "great conservative", if you think that selling out America and favoring foreigners' jobs over American jobs is "conservative," then you are deeply out of touch with the Conservative GOP base. That's what the elites are pushing, not what the great mass of ordinary people want. Which is precisely why Trump is leading in the polls - because he reflects that.

Capitalism is about making money. It requires markets that are generally free of government intervention and intrusion. What Trump has engaged in is crony capitalism.

The fact is, jobs related to exports pay an average of 15% higher than other jobs. I've got news for you: half a million manufacturing jobs are unfilled because of the skills gap that exists today, it has nothing to do with free trade. NAFTA was implemented in 1993, by 2000 22 million jobs were added.
