So wait, Obama's saying that Blago's people never suggested to Obama's people that Blago was interested in trading the senate seat for something of value?  So then, why were Blago's people allegedly telling Blago on the tapes that Obama wasn't interested in any quid pro quo?  How would they know that unless they had raised this issue with Obama's people?  Also, this report says that one of the names that Obama (indirectly) suggested to Blago was Jesse Jackson Jr.  But didn't Fitzgerald's report say that Blago people were saying that Obama wasn't so keen on Senate Candidate #5 (who we now know to be JJJ)?

Blagojevich asked Tom Balanoff, head of the Illinois chapter of the SEIU if he thought Obama would consider him for the HSS department and Balanoff told him it would never happen.  That's probably why Blagojevich was certain Obama would not give him anything.

Emanuel had also spoken to Blagojevich a few times and told him that some of the people Obama would like to replace him in the Senate were Dan Hynes, Jan Schakowsky, Jesse Jackson Jr., Tammy Duckworth, Lisa Madigan or Cheryle Jackson.

My understanding from yesterday's comments were that the Obama campaign acknowledged in one of the conversations between Rahmbo and Harris that Harris said something along the lines of "So if we choose Jarrett all we get is appreciation?" and Rahm replies "That's right."

here's the passage:

Mr. Balanoff told Ms. Jarrett that he had spoken to the Governor about the possibility of selecting Valerie Jarrett to replace the President-Elect. He told her that Lisa Madigan’s name also came up.

Ms. Jarrett recalls that Mr. Balanoff also told her that the Governor had raised with him the question of whether the Governor might be considered as a possible candidate to head up the Department of Health and Human Services in the new administration. Mr. Balanoff told Ms. Jarrett that he told the Governor that it would never happen. Jarrett concurred.
