It's hard to convince the Islamic world [and the rest of the world] that we're "the good guys" when we seem to be going down the entire list of techniques used by the North Vietnamese (and the Nazis, Spanish Inquisition to a lesser extent).  Pressure points, waterboarding, sleep deprivation, and extreme temperatures are already horrific enough even without this British report of rape and whatnot that the White House is denying.

Exactly.  Surely at least the 9/11 people operate as unrefutable proof of that.  Terrorists are going to hate us for invading their countries, for representing what they view is amoral culture while being a world hegemon and so on down t he list.  Anything else is retarded.

Honestly, I follow this torture shame stuff very closely and I didn't know whether to post it or not.  Gibbs implied the story was a giant hoax.  Yet why not release the pictures if they're more mild than the foreign press is claiming?  It's not hard to see that that the images will actually protect our soldiers more than harm them if they are significantly more mild than the The Telegraph is indicating.  I mean, what's worse than rape?
