Anyone else excited to see it? Or if you're a non-American and you've already seen it, what did you think? (Just please refrain from posting any major spoilers in here until after the opening weekend in the US.)

Well, both versions of The Avengers did come out about the same time. Tongue

Apparently, American audiences are getting an extra scene at the very end of the credits. I guess that's our treat for having to wait so damn long for this. Tongue

Wow, got back from the midnight showing a little while ago. I feel like my face was blown off. I've never seen a movie with so much action in it. Great action at that.

I've only seen the first Ironman and none of the other "prequels," can I still see this? Or will I be missing a lot of things?

You can definitely still see it. Although at least watching Thor would definitely be a plus.

This just destroyed the opening weekend record domestically and it's doing wonderfully overseas as well.

Deary me, look at the IMDb Avengers board right now....

"The Holocaust could not have happened"

"How come when Whites are 'overrepresented' in a business"

"The Jews started the war in Iraq"

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0848228/board/threads/

I looked at some of the responses to the first one and they're pretty funny.

"And this has what to do with The Avengers?"

"Wasn't Magneto in the Holocaust?"

I have just seen it, and it was pretty good!

I would like to know do you think this will win Oscars next year? And will it beat Avatar in the box office?

1) Probably not. Although it might have a shot at some of the technical/special effects ones.

2) No way. Avatar's legs were just incredible.

I disagree, the movie is very critically acclaimed (93% on RT). It's on the same range as recent winners like The King's Speech and Hurt Locker, even higher than The Dark Knight. I know it doesn't mean much but, usually movies that high get nominated for Best Picture.

Even if it doesn't it might even got not only the technical/sound effects stuff, it might get some acting nods as well.

It's not higher than The Dark Knight in any way, for the record.

The Dark Knight
RT: All Critics 94% (8.4 average rating)/ Top Critics 91% (8 average rating)
Metacritic: 82

The Avengers
RT: All critics 93% (8 average rating)/ Top Critics 86% (7.8 average rating)
Metacritic: 69

While virtually all of the acting in The Avengers was good, there were no major standouts, at least not in the way that Ledger stood out in TDK. I'd be beyond shocked if it got any acting nominations.

Well maybe I was wrong, but I was close.

As for the acting noms, you know Mark Ruffalo is getting a lot of critical acclaim for his acting for the Hulk in the movie, he might get one supporting actor award.

I'd be fine with that but it won't happen. Just watch.
