Because, despite the instance of jfern, Webb is conservative at heart. 

You are setting yourself up to be one very dissapointed fellow in the near future if you really think Webb is a conservative.

Don't believe any of the ultra-spin you hear from Fox News, HR - the vast majority of Democrats who won on Nov. 7th are NOT conservatives Dems, and Jim Webb certainly isn't one, either.

I guess if you're a liberal Dem, it doesn't matter what you did... you're permanently shut out of heroism altogether in Don's mind.

As long as Bob Dole, George HW Bush, John McCain, and Duke Cunningham are shut out in the liberal mind, then I suppose so.
