Yea, if we're voting on my amended version.  Abstain if we're voting on the original version.

Aye
Why is this ammendment ridiculous? It's activity has already been declared unconstitutional, so basically, we're paying bureocrats to do nothing.

And since that amendment has passed CheeseWhiz has asked for a new amendment to change something on the old. I hereby open up the vote on this bill, please vote Aye, Nay or Abstain.

The following shall be changed on the Bill:

2. The Office of Public and Indian Housing is hereby eliminated.
3. The words "Office of Public and Indian Housing" shall be striken from all bills.
4. Any section of any bill that pertains to the Office of Public and Indian Housing shall be repealed.

Why are people voting nay on this one?  It's just a clarification of a previous amendment to make it not have unfortunate consequences.

^^^^^

My last amendment was worded kind of badly, as Colin pointed out.  Do you really wish for every bill that just mentions the Office of Public and Indian Housing to be repealed?

CheeseWhiz, if this amendment fails I'll be voting against this. Sad  But then re-introduce it with that amendment and I'll vote for it. Smiley

I don't blame you, I'll even be abstaining if that happens Sad  Anyway, thanks for proposing it if it doesn't pass, hopefully it won't come to that, but thanks Smiley

Hey I didn't mean it Texasgurl. I have nothing against Jake or you I was just stating a relatively true statement that you rarely vote in the affirmation of anything.

I believe this is the present state of play:

1. The funding under Personell and Administration for the Department of Housing and Urban Development shall be cut by 10%.
2. The Office of Public and Indian Housing is hereby eliminated.
3. The words "Office of Public and Indian Housing" shall be striken from all bills.
4. Any section of any bill that pertains to the Office of Public and Indian Housing shall be repealed.

For a start, "bill" refers to legislation awaiting consideration as opposed to legislation enacted. Even if we overlook that, I doubt the statutes at large will read particularly coherently if the phrase "Office of Public and Indian Housing" is removed in every place it occurs.

I motion the following amendment:

1. Clause 1 will spell Personnel correctly.
2. "any bill" in Clause 4 will be replaced with "enacted legislation".
3. Clause 3 will now read:
Any responsibility or duty, imposed by statute, presently exercised by the Office of Public and Indian Housing will no longer be honored by the federal government.

We're not voting yet, I'm just giving you both versions so you can debate then.

Bill as it stands now:

Bill after Peter's amendments:

1. The funding under Personnel and Administration for the Department of Housing and Urban Development shall be cut by 10%.
2. The Office of Public and Indian Housing is hereby eliminated.
3. Any responsibility or duty, imposed by statute, presently exercised by the Office of Public and Indian Housing will no longer be honored by the federal government.
4. Any section of enacted legislation that pertains to the Office of Public and Indian Housing shall be repealed.
