Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

Loving Joe's body language.

This debate is in general much better than the presidential one. As Ryan might say, in spite of the moderator, not because of her.

Why was Ryan campaigning in Northborough?

'Mitt Romney doesn't tell these stories.' No, but you are, which...hm.

Biden's really good at the Barbara Ehrenreich-type stuff.

Ryan's pretty decent, but I think clearly defensive at the moment.

I'd say Biden's winning this right now, but its not as much of a win as Romney got. Ryan's putting up enough of a fight to make the win decently narrow. But Biden really seems like he loves this, like its what he lives for.

He's a happy and somewhat deranged warrior.

Ryan: 48%
Biden: 44%

MoE: 5%

The snap poll also show that the debate was more or less a tie. Biden may have soothed the democratic base and Ryan did not screw up the Romney lead from the last debate, but in the end this debate will not have much of an effect.

The next debates on the other had could be decisive. It could be a cliff hanger until November

More of my comments on the debate at http://www.yourelection.net

A snap poll showed that the debate was more or less a tie. Nobody except CNN thinks that.

CNN Poll:

Did Biden do better or worse than you expected?

Better: 55%
Worse: 26%
Same: 18%

This is also important, even within the context of the strange CNN topline.

CNN Poll:

Did Biden do better or worse than you expected?

Better: 55%
Worse: 26%
Same: 18%

Add to that:

Ryan did better than expected according to 51% of CNN voters, 19% say worse.

There's something perverse about these CNN polls relative to the reality all the other networks are experiencing, although I agree that it can't really be said that Ryan did worse than expected.
