Shame, he'd make a fine United States Senator. He must not have a good team in his corner/not be that bright himself. His political future is in the Senate or nowhere.

He could run for governor again in 2018 (Maryland only forbids more than two consecutive terms) or he could run in 2018 for senate if Cardin retires in 2018 (He'll be 74 in 2018, not out of the realm of possibility). But he'll be our next president so all of this is moot.
