He's another term-limited committee chair. Even though he's from Virginia, there was no way his seat was going to Democratic in 2018. Still, he adds to the striking exodus of experienced Republican Congressmen.

Idk the fact he is term-limited in terms of his influence makes this a bit less interesting than it appears at a glance. It's not a viable pickup opportunity, and it's not as though he has butted heads with Trump much (that I'm aware of). Much less meaningful than the IRL, Lobiondo, or Reichart retirements.

I'd say Mark Obenshain has right of first refusal, and if he bows out, Ben Cline probably has second right, though him running and winning would have a big impact on the HoD control.
