This list seems way of. If most americans were overwhelmingly conservative Romney would have won with ease.

Look at it this way...only one state has an (outright) conservative majority. Since the Dems are the party of moderates and liberals (Gallup has similar polls which indicate that the mod/lib split is at about 38-39% each within the Democratic Party) it's not surprising to see Democrats winning presidential elections.

I have a feeling that a lot of those moderates are actually liberals who don't want to admit it because liberal has become such a dirty word in political lexicon.
