Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich 2002 2006

Freudenthal, Rendell, and Easley are the most electable. Henry would be a good candidate because he could steal the center, but in doing so could lose the left.

Warner, Easley and Richardson have the best shots.  Also, Ed Rendell has made some pretty unsubtle hints that he'll run in 2008.

I like Rendell, Bredesen, and Easley. I think Corzine, hopefully a gov soon, would be a good candidate, certainly better than Hillary.

Is Rendell a dark horse candidate? I mean, nobody is talking about him, but he's kinda just there.

I've mentioned him a few times.  He's the guy I think Kerry should have chosen for a running mate.   Fiscal conservative, social moderate - just what we need after 8 years of escalating deficits.

Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano 2002 2006

Possibly...doubt she'll make a run but she's a longshot for the VP.

Delaware Governor Ruth Ann Minner 2000 2008

No.

Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich 2002 2006

Not with a last name like that.

Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack 1998 2006

Will run.

Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius 2002 2006

If she survives reelection, she still has no chance.

Louisiana Governor Kathleen B. Blanco 2003 2007

Communist.

Maine Governor John Baldacci 2002 2006

Uninspiring.

Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer 2004 2008

Would be a good candidate, but I doubt he'd run (especially considering he's running for re-election as Governor in 2008).

New Hampshire Governor John Lynch 2004 2006

Unlikely, due to NH's two-year terms.

New Jersey Acting Governor Richard Codey 2004 2006

Give me a break.

New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson 2002 2006

Is running.

North Carolina Governor Michael F. Easley 2000 2008

Is not running.

Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry 2002 2006

Perhaps a good candidate, but he's got no chance, even if he survives re-election.

Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski 2002 2006

A nice long-shot possibility to keep in mind.  Probably not though.

Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell 2002 2006

Dark horse candidate, mayhaps?

Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen 2002 2006

Would be the perfect Democratic candidate...but he won't be nominated.  I'd vote for him, though.

Virginia Governor Mark Warner 2001 2005

Is running.

Washington Governor Christine Gregoire 2004 2008

No chance.

West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin 2004 2008

No chance.

Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle 2002 2006

Uninspiring.

Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal 2002 2006

From Wyoming?  Give me a break.

Bill Richardson - has a good chance of being vp.

Ed Rendell - not in the top 8 of winning outside vp.

Janet Napolitano - could get the nom if lucky but will be vp.

Mark Warner - my current pick of those suggesting 08 run.

others dont have a chance. but possible in 2012/2016.

Kerry/Rendell = Too northeastern a ticket. Rendell can certainly go more populist than Kerry did. I like him; he'd make a good nominee- with Warner, Bredesen, or Richardson. A great ticket.

I like Vilsack for a number of reasons:

He's a moderate, but doesn't tick off the left as much as Bredesen. He comes from the Midwest, and could likely give us Iowa. And he's a Governor.

I think some people in the party are a little pissed at him for not delivering Iowa to Kerry last year.

Warner, Rendell, Kulongoski, Napolitano and Richardson are the most viable governors for 2008.

From what I've heard, Vilsack wouldn't even win his home state. He is supposedly duller than watching paint dry.

As an Iowan, I can tell you that Vilsack has no chance at the nomination or the general.

By that reasoning, Richardson should be out too.

Am I the only one who thinks "You are bad because you didn't deliver your state" sounds a little creepy? Are we mad at Vilsack because he didn't do something illegal/sketchy to get Kerry the state, which as Governor he could likely figure out a way to do.

Yes. JK. Seriously, he would make a horrible candidate. 1) He has no charisma and he's from Iowa. 2) He wouldn't be able to carry his own state. This is coming from an Iowan by the way, despite what my avater says. Richardson would be a great VP, carrying a large percentage of hispanics in the Southwest and elsewhere.
