In this chapter of "Phil's Weekend Wandering," we will visit the annual conserva-nerd fest in our nation's capital: Washington, DC. I've lost count of the amount of CPAC conferences I've attended but I do know for certain that it's always an amusing experience.

In 2008, I had the pleasure of meeting fellow forum legend and aggressive moderator Inks. I even took Inks' picture with the late Tony Snow. Will I run into the Menace from Michigan again? Will I be greeted by the fawning masses as I pull into Union Station tonight? We shall see. I do know, however, that it will be a perfect completion to one hell of a week. Though I will miss his speech (set to begin in an hour), I will savor this conference as my Presidential preference rides high on momentum. This is our place in the sun.

For the record, I'm leaving before Palin speaks.

Tune in for updates throughout the weekend and be sure to come back next weekend for our next edition: An Excursion to England.

I remember going in 2008. Lots of Ron Paul people there that year. And Romney. Not so many Rudy/McCain voters, sadly.

Do I have to pay to get into this thing? Or can I just show up and mingle with the Paultards?

Wander around tonight! I'll try to find you. I'll probably be dining in Georgetown anyway.

The Paultards aren't attending this year.

I thought it would be even worse when we found out Ron wouldn't attend but once I heard some of his fans that I know were boycotting, a smile slowly crept across my face...

I'll probably be in the hotel tonight.  I can probably meet you in the lobby of the Marriott later if you're up for it.

I'm going to Fred Karger's reception tonight: http://www.fredkarger.com/events/fred-karger-cocktail-party/

Although, as a Santorum supporter, that may not be the place for you. Wink

I wore my navy suit enough times this week so the jacket is out. Sad I wore my best pair of khaki dress pants last night. I'll have my charcoal suit for tomorrow with a red and blue stripped tie. I'm currently going super casual with my jeans, dress shirt, various shades of blue stripped tie (wore this when I met Rick years ago Purple heart ) and an Express pullover sweater thingy. You know, something that cool kids wear.

Fire away.

Saw a lot of CPACers wearing suits on the metro today. There was a gang of hot right-wingers in skirts and CPAC lanyard things walking ahead of me at one point.

Nothing like being up at this time on a Saturday morning, waiting for what will surely be a rousing speech from Bobby Jindal. Will it be as epic as that SOTU response from a few years ago? Stay tuned.

I had dinner with Mikado last night - good to see him again.  It almost didn't happen.  We weren't allowed to leave the hotel for a period of about 15 minutes while the cops moved the OccupyCPAC people out of the hotel driveway and into the area near the Metro.

Sad

Well, another former forum member (no, not the infamous one you're all thinking of. He doesn't count since we hang out all the time but yes, he was there, too) contacted me to meet up but I left earlier this afternoon.
