I agree with the general assesment that it is way too early to begin handicapping who would be the nominees in 2008.

In 2001, Kerry was a best a blip on the 2004 scope,
In 1997, Bush was also only a blip.
In 1993, Dole was only one of many possibilities.
In 1989, no one would have thought that Clinton would be the nominee.
In 1985 who had heard of Dukakis outside of Massachusetts?
In 1981, who would have thunk that Mondale would gain the nod.

With Cheney having bowed out of running in 2008 (the only way that could change in a politically acceptable way would be if something happened between now and the midterm elections to put him in the Oval Office.)  Neither party has an obvious candiate at this stage for 2008 and until the 2006 midterms are over, its too early to do any useful cogitating over who the nominees will be in 1008, much less who will will the whole enchilada.

No he’s not.  If he were rabid, his enthusiasm for Santorum would be infectious, which it certainly is not.
