The Social Climber

A career-focused individualist with a distinct fascination with social status, new technologies, risk and suspense. Social success and climbing up the social ladder are important motives for the social climbers' behaviour. Their happiness is largely determined by their career ('my work is my life'). They also seem to attach a lot of importance to showing to others what they have achieved. Their general attitude is clearly materialistic; both earning (a lot of) money and consuming are important. Social climbers lead a very busy and hurried life and barely have time to take care of household chores such as food shopping and cooking. People in this milieu are generally status-sensitive and strongly performance-oriented. There doesn't seem to be much time for rest and recuperation. They consider family life to be the ideal lifestyle, but don't usually have any strong family involvement.

The other profiles are less applicable to you and are shown below in decreasing order of appropriateness:

    Modern mainstream
    Convenience oriented
    Kosmopolitans
    Upper conservatives
    Traditional mainstream
    Postmodern hedonists
    Post materialists

Don't really agree with this result

According to this test I should live in Deadwood, Oregon. Never even heard of the place.

Keeps giving people random villages. I got a few in Belmont County and one in northern Athens county.

However when I turned off party affiliation (which makes sense) I got KENT, which compared to the various random tiny villages is a true metropolis.

Don't know how "classical liberal" was my top result, given I am protectionist and left of center on economics, and put that down clearly on the quiz.

Top ideologies:

Libertarianism (98%)
Social liberalism (95%)
Anarcho-capitalism (90%)
Social democracy (89%)

Worst ideologies:
Neoconservatism (29%)
Theocratic Socialism (40%)

National communism (48%)
Liberal conservatism (49%)

I took the political sextant quiz and my results were unbelievable. According to the quiz I'm a Bush style Compassionate Conservative with strong fascistic sympathies. My worst ideologies were Mutualism and various flavors of National Socialism of German and Indonesian flavors.

Market Skeptic Republicans
along with 12% of the public.

Critical of many major institutions and government, Market Skeptic Republicans mostly identify with, or lean toward, the GOP. They stand out from other Republican-oriented groups in their negative views of the economic system: An overwhelming majority say it “unfairly favors powerful interests.” Most also say businesses make too much profit, and they are the most likely Republican-leaning group to want to raise taxes on corporations (55%). They are similar to other GOP-leaning groups in their skepticism about the social safety net.

huh.

You're a Ross Perot Populist!

If there’s one word that best describes you it’s this: pragmatic. Ideals and unbridled optimism have their place, but when the rubber meets the road of public policy a solid, objective approach is what’s really needed. You’re extremely liberal on some social issues, but intensely conservative on others. There is one constant, however, between these apparently contradictory beliefs: how strongly you feel about them. A passionate pragmatist, you’ll stick to your guns regardless of what others think.

You are 1% Libertarian, which makes you Not Libertarian.

result icon
In your case it is safe to say that you are *not* a libertarian. Whether because you prefer a greater degree of social discipline or economic regulation (or possibly both), you probably tend to find large swatches of the libertarian program to be far-fetched, extremist, and possibly even downright repulsive. If you are not the argumentative type, you had best stay clear of libertarians - they have a reputation for being insufferable in an argument.

https://www.theblaze.com/what-kind-of-conservative-are-you-take-the-1-minute-quiz (corrected link)

You’re a free market flag waver.
A fiscal conservative. Welfare checks nurture dependence, not independence, you say. Class warfare is a power grab technique of demagogues. Debt, especially government debt, is like downing sugar-coated spoonfuls of slavery. Federal spending needs to shrink, the national debt needs to disappear, and taxes need to be rolled back. More freedom comes with more risk, and once freedom is lost in exchange for less risk, it’s not clawing back up that slippery slope anytime soon.

You’re in good company at the riverbank with Adam Smith, Milton Friedman, Friedrich Hayek, David Ricardo, and Thomas Robert Malthus. Stephen Moore and Steve Forbes are teaching a man to fish and telling jokes about how many supply-side economists it actually takes. The laughter trickles down and many fish are caught.

Goldwater is a neocon, and I'm a capitalist. Wow.

Goldwater is a neocon, and I'm a capitalist. Wow.

I don't know about the second part, but the first part is certainly true. Tongue

I thought the irony was that I got the capitalist result, but you got the neocon result associated with more government regulation than one expects from a yellow avatar (unless you've changed your views recently and are less lazzie faire)

I'm not a commie, but "free market flag barer" is associated with Koch style rich boy "liberty especially for the rich" types. I suspect one might get into that category for not being quite as socially conservative, for example pro-gay marriage, but could be wrong. All the pictures in that quiz are weird, like how they have an owl represent opposition to term limits.

You are in the middle range of the political spectrum, but lean toward tyranny more than freedom.

You scored 36 points out of 100 in the Economic Freedom category.
You scored 52 points out of 100 in the Personal/Social Freedom category.
