The Midwestern Constitution, unsurprisingly, is vague on what occurs to an absent Althing representative:

From that, at least, you would think that a Labour Archduke would just find another Labour candidate to run in the special. It is still to Labour's advantage that an empty body gets in the Althing, since in the case of a special election there will only be one designated Labour candidate. No risk for vote-splitting in that case.

     Hmm, maybe windjammer secretly wants a special election. Maybe he doesn't want to wait a full months for another vote after this batch of elections. Evil

Thanks for the info, Foucaulf! It looks like Libertarian Socialist Dem would be elected if the polls closed right now, so we might well need that :S Fortunately, there's still 36 hours to go Smiley
