And it passed by overwhelming margins, indicating massive support among both Republicans and Democrats:

House passes antisemitism bill with broad bipartisan support amid campus arrests
The Antisemitism Awareness Act would require the Education Department to adopt the definition of antisemitism used by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance

Normal people voted against it because of its free speech implications and overly broad definition of antisemitism, while weirdo's voted against it seemingly entirely because it calls their blood libel fantasies anti-semitic.

Even Ben Shapiro (who is Orthodox Jewish and as Pro-Israel as you can get) is against this on free speech grounds lol

Bingo.

Today, in response to the recent protests, the house passed the Antisemitism Awareness Act with 91 dissenters. Both Sara Jacobs (low key one of the best reps) and MTG took issue with the bill, though for very different reasons.

I always find bills that create the most random coalitions the most interesting, even if for wildly or even directly contradictory reasons

Yeah, probably a bad bill. American politicians need to find better ways of pandering to rabidly pro-Israeli voters, like sending more weapons to the war effort, actually cutting off aid to the Gazan government instead of merely pretending, or encouraging the Rafah operation to happen on a faster timescale. This bill seems like worthless posturing.

Just adding to this, I have to stress how insane it is that almost 2/3rds of House Democrats support this bill while Ben Shapiro opposes it.

Jerrold Nadler is one stunning vote out of that group. He was supporting Trump move from the embassy to Jerusalem, so if he can see this bill as a violation of the first amendment the rest of the congressional voting body should see it the same way.

There is an alternative anti-Semitism bill with bipartisan backing that is actually respective of the First Amendment rights of protesters yet still provides protections for Jewish students -and might still pass the Senate instead if given the chance:

Bipartisan bill would create dedicated White House antisemitism coordinator

It's completely unsurprising, both parties are bought and paid for by AIPAC.

This evil bill hasn't even made it through the Senate but it is already doing its job - intimidation.

Conflating being critical of the Israeli government with antisemitism will only increase actual antisemitism, but I don't think they care.

Every member of the House who voted for this does not understand the First Amendment and should not be in the House. I don't care what their other politics are.

Here's a video Ben Shapiro did explaining his position on the bill.
