This is pure fantasy. McCaskill will be lucky if she wins at all, let alone by 14%.
My thoughts exactly.  If anything, the GOP will expand its Senate majority this year.

Could you maybe do 2016 with 1972 margins as well?

Ill consider it. Are you ever going to post that map you made on an image posting site that works? Just wondering

I actually already made a county map for this. The Democrat wins Hawaii, California, Maryland, DC, Massachusetts, and Vermont:

In addition, here's one for 1936:

I think an interesting one would be 2000. I'll see if I can put that together.
How did you make this?

If McCaskill won by 14 that could well be the map lol.

But in reality she won't.

Right  now I think it will be both St. Louis Jurisdictions+Boone+Jackson+Clay+Platte.

If she wins add Jefferson and/or St Charles.

How McCaskill can win by 14

1. Josh Hawley barely makes it out of the primary

2. Josh Hawley is found to be having a gay relationship with President Trump.

3. McCaskill doesn't make a single mistake on the campaign trail.

That map was a best case scenario, I am more or less expecting McCaskill to win by 8%.

Here is Herbert Hoover winning a second term. I swung the results of the entire 1932 election by 18%

Amazing to think there was a time when a Republican could win a Presidential election while losing a majority of counties, when you look at modern maps. I'd be very interested in seeing victory maps for other landslide losers as well (Landon, Goldwater, McGovern, Carter '80, Mondale, Dukakis).

I did start doing work on a Landon map but I got bored of it really quick. I would be very interested to see a map of McGovern winning. I'll probably make that one.

That would definitely be a very interesting map. I think McGovern would probably have won fewer counties than Obama '08 even if he had won the election.

1996, except I did a 20% swing to Clinton in the South (Clinton +10, Dole -10), and a 20% swing to Dole everywhere else (Dole +10, Clinton -10).

If Baker is winning the Bronx, he's sweeping just about everywhere else.

Looks like a uniform swing from 2000/2004 or something?

D'oh!

I meant to have Grayson >60% in the Bronx and NY. Also Baker is supposed to be >70% in Richmond County but I forgot to color it in somehow.

Yep. I took the 2004 results and added 15% to Bush while taking 15% away from Kerry, thus giving Bush a 50-state sweep.

I would probably tolerate this result. Actually the worst part to me is Vice President Nikki Haley.

Due to McGovern's terrible performance in most of the South, this looks more like a modern Democratic victory in terms of number of counties won. Anyway, very nice map!
