August 13th, 2019 - The Announcement

"Welcome, everyone. I'm Rachel Maddow, and in 2018, Stacey Abrams faced now-Governor Brian Kemp in the Georgia gubernatorial election, going on to just missing out on flipping the state blue by 2%. However, since election night, it's been made clear that Governor Kemp and his campaign used rather shady tactics to virtually ensure a Republican win. He's been one of President Trump's biggest backers, and you might remember when he launched a massive attack on women's reproductive rights in the State of Georgia. Now, Stacey Abrams and her campaign are suing the State, and went on to create a group named Fair Fight, to promote fair, truly democratic elections in this country. Tonight, she joins us."

"Thank you, Rachel."

"I'll just come out and say it. Everyone wants to know what your plan is going forward. It's August, we've already had two rounds of presidential debates, and you still haven't made a decision. What is it going to be?"

"Well, I'll be the first to tell you that I am announcing a campaign for the Presidency..."

A FAIR FIGHT

Stacey Abrams is so poor that she created a Gmail account just to eat the spam.

August 15th - Changes

RealClearPolitics reports that former Georgia Gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams has debuted in polling at 4.5%, surpassing former Texas Congressman Beto O'Rourke, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, and HUD Secretary Julian Castro. Abrams' campaign was reached for comment, and said that they're "proud" of their early success, and claim that they've already built a large volunteer and donor database which will help Abrams gain access to the fall DNC debates.

August 15th, 2019 Polling

Joe Biden - 28%
Elizabeth Warren - 19%
Bernie Sanders - 16%
Kamala Harris - 7%
Pete Buttigieg - 5%
Stacey Abrams - 4.5%
Beto O'Rourke - 3%
Cory Booker - 2%
Others - Below 2%

John Hickenlooper Out

On Thursday, former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper announced the end to his presidential campaign. Hickenlooper, now a potential Colorado Senate Candidate in the race against Republican incumbent Cory Gardner, failed to ever surpass 2% in polling, and suffered from weak donor numbers as well. Hickenlooper made the announcement via his Twitter page.

Kirsten Gillibrand and Marianne Williamson reportedly nearing end - both to potentially endorse Abrams?

The Hill reports that self-help author Marianne Williamson and New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand were both taken aback by the sudden campaign announcement from Stacey Abrams: so much so that both have explored ending their relatively unsuccessful campaigns and endorsing the former Gubernatorial candidate. Anonymous sources claimed to The Hill that workers from both campaigns have been notified that "an end is in the coming months", and were notified to begin scaling down events and activities in early primary states, and to begin notifying state-level campaign employees to seek employment elsewhere.

Seriously though this is great. If you need images just go through Wikipedia Commons, there’s a ton of them for each candidate.

Part of me wants to, though, part of me is also worried about going through the hassle just for all of them to be removed because of the troll lawsuit that's trying to kill this forum.

Everything on Wiki Commons is public domain. The pictures vary in size but there is usually an option to have it resized to something around 600x400.

Abrams Qualifies For Debate, Skyrockets Among African American Voters, What's In Her Campaign's Future?

Since her announcement of joining the massive field of Democratic presidential candidates in August, Stacey Abrams has had an impressive start to her campaign. Using voter data from her past campaign for Governor, and her voter rights group Fair Fight, Abrams has already qualified for the DNC debate next week and has performed consistently well in polling.

Abrams has jumped to first place in polling amongst African American voters and is currently 2nd place in polling amongst women, just behind California Senator Kamala Harris. But the question remains as to how she'll make the jump from 6% nationally to leading the pack.

Ahead of her is former Vice President and Democratic Party icon Joe Biden, and two progressive leaders in Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. Her core campaign themes of feminism, minority rights, and voter rights have earned her an impressive start - but she'll need to have a star moment of her own to move up the field.

Biden's Polling Consistently Dropping

Former Vice President Joe Biden has seen a drop in polling since the announcement of Stacey Abrams' candidacy - despite the Biden campaign operating strong political machines in dozens of important primary states. Biden has managed to stay relatively gaffe and rivalry free since the Summer debates, when his campaign took massive damage from California Senator Kamala Harris' attack on Biden's position regarding school bus segregation. Biden's advisor Symone Sanders attributes the drop in polling to "typical voter confusion" as the Iowa caucus draws closer, and claims that Biden and his supporters have "nothing to worry about".

Growing Rivalry Between Harris and Sanders Campaigns

A rivalry is brewing between the campaigns of California Senator Kamala Harris and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. In late August, Senator Harris came out in opposition of Senator Sanders' signature "Medicare for All" program, claiming that she "has problems" with it. Sanders then attacked Harris on Twitter for scheduling a fundraising event in the Hamptons with several wealthy donors on the same night of CNN's Climate Crisis Town Hall.

This attack, along with Harris' eventual failure to show up to CNN's event has led to Sanders seeing a notable rise in polling, while Senator Harris has fallen behind South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg. The campaigns have exchanged several ill-natured tweets back and forth, ranging from commentary on Harris' record as California Attorney General, and Sanders' voting record on guns and former NRA rating.

Other presidential candidates chimed in on the feud, with Businessman Andrew Yang gaining attention for his simple tweet to both candidates, "Can't we all just get along?"
