People know that Sanders is an honest man with genuine convictions who could not simply be bought off by any lobbyist walking in the door. In Washington politics, that's a rarity. It didn't hurt that countless people believed in his message of fairness and social justice as well, largely Progressives and Independents of all political affiliations. The man shall remain a popular and inspring figure in American politics, loathed only by the partisan right.

Personally, I'd like to see the Democratic Party's leading voices be Sanders and Biden; Obama's good as well, particularly when representing the diversity of our party, but his closeness to corporate aligned Democratic politics is unsettling.
