http://www.41nbc.com/news/local-news/7031-herman-cain-wins-georgia-straw-poll-at-perry-fish-fry

The Georgia Republican Party's annual fish fry in Perry, Georgia held a straw poll for the first time this year. Newt Gingrich was the only candidate to attend (or seriously campaign at the straw poll at all [besides the typical Paultard grassroots efforts]). He only got 18% of the vote. Gingrich's campaign is completely dead in the water, of course, but this result is still amusing nonetheless.

I'm also slightly surprised to see that Cain's still the favorite of so many Georgia GOP activists, who I'd assume would have already shifted support to Perry by this point. Bachmann getting such a small portion of the vote is also surprising.

Poll results:

Herman Cain – 26% (232)
Ron Paul – 25.7% (229)
Rick Perry – 20% (179)
Newt Gingrich – 18% (162)
Mitt Romney – 6% (51)
Michele Bachmann – 3.3% (29)
All Others – 1%

I'm telling you, the folks down here like Cain.  If the conservatives spit out the Perry flavor and no one else gets in the race then I have a feeling they might circle back to Cain.

Oh, everyone up here loves Cain too; his radio show on WSB was always hugely popular. I don't remember the exact statistics but IIRC he had an average of somewhere around a million listeners every day in the Atlanta metro. I have no doubt Cain would win GA by default if his campaign actually managed to gain some momentum.
