Strange, but these are the findings of 2 new Easter polls in the 2 countries:

55% of Germans believe in God/Allah/whatever (down from 66% in a 2005 survey)

42% of Austrians believe in God/Allah/whatever
35% of Austrians believe in some sort of "higher force", but not in God
23% of Austrians are Atheists

Maybe that's because Germany has more immigrants?

No, both have ca. 25% migrants.

I think it can be more explained with question wording.
