If there's to be an election I'll declare my intent to run for Speaker of the Council. I think I'd bring the requisite experience to the job. If there's not to be an election I'd humbly request that the current Speaker, seatown, appoint me to succeed him.
Does this mean you are signing the petition?

I will also be running for Speaker, but if an election is not held, I ask that either myself or Oakvale is appointed Speaker.

I should note that if I'm re-elected next session I plan to hold an election for the Speakership since I think the appointment system isn't ideal.
Thank you! It's about time we had some of this sensibility.

Note: FTR Jacob's vote on the RACO amendment was an aye. (It was highlighted green)

I must have missed that, can you point me to the legislation relating to highlighting and the implications for the vote?
He wasn't legally required to, but he was following the outlines for the piece of legislation we were voting on. Anyway, I know from prior experience that he supports this. But my word for it may not be valid, so we may need him to definitively translate it. I just thought I would bring it up.

I have brought the new Constitution to the floor and now hereby resign as Speaker of the Council.

I appoint Politics Junkie as the new Speaker.

Adios, everyone - my time was brief but fun, and I hope the new Constitution will leave a lasting, positive legacy of my time here. Smiley
Thank you for this honor and for your contributions to the constitution. Smiley

PJ, I'd like to focus on the constitution, for the record. If you want to bring up some noncontroversial bills through, that's fine, but I'd like to keep people focused on the main goal here, and that's saving the region.
Ok I plan on opening everything else once the Great Reform Amendment gets through.

Here is the bills that need to be transferred from the last council. I'll only open constitutional amendments until the Great Reform Amendment is finished.

Do we have social security in this region? How about welfare? Do we have any desalination plants to bring water to places like Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Albuquerque?

http://greenopedia.com/article/desalination-seawater-can-do-more-harm-good

FYI, I am opposed to desalination for the reasons outlined in this article.

So I don't forget it later:

Side note: I'm going to see if we can have one piece of legislation at a time in addition to the Great Reform Amendment, as it will take a long time to get this passed through.

Beastiality is a Crime Act

1. Beastiality, the sexual assault of a non-human animal, will be illegal and convicted violators will be sentenced to a minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of twenty.

2. Those who are convicted of beastiality will no longer be able to adopt any animal, own a farm with animals, operate a facility with animals, work in a facility with animals, or enter a facility with animals.

You could amend this bill, but bestiality is already illegal in the Pacific.

The national law similar to this has a clause:

I suggest that something similar be put into effect, here. We don't want people deleting laws and then saying they're invalidated because they're not on the books.

I would like to see PJ respond to this before I start a discussion/vote thread on it.
I have amended the bill to include it.

I will bring this to discussion when we have the next available slot.
We have another slot open. Federal amendments do not count.

I'd like to request that the Repeal of the Resolution on Amendment Ratification is moved up in the queue. I want to return amending the constitution to the public as soon as possible.
