It's pretty hard to be a spoiler in a system with IRV.

In any case, I guess I can make the candidacy for District 2 Senate official here, since I already said I'd be running in a different thread.

If I still can, I would like to drop out of the Senate race. I don't have any time to do any effective campaigning, and DWTL is being a total asshole, and he's driving me nuts.

Whoa, shake up.  If it's any consolation, DWTL probably won't be in the Senate for much longer.  Smiley

I am withdrawing from the District 2 Senate Race.

I will no longer be pursuing the District 2 Senate Seat,

Mr. Moderate can breathe a little easier Smiley

Updated the Wiki.  Thanks for the fight you two put up—I appreciate it.  Smiley

Actually, I believe DWTL's most recent statement was that he wanted to be left on the ballot, but he wouldn't be campaigning. I'm not certain, but I think that's right.

Yeah, I caught that.  My edit to the Wiki:

(1) Still has DWTL as a candidate on the August 2006 Senate Election page.
(2) Makes a mention to him dropping out but still remaining on the ballot on the "In the News" section.
(3) Removed Ernest from the August 2006 Senate Election page.
(4) Added a mention of Ernest's confirmation as Secretary of External Affairs to the "In the News" section.
(5) Randomly chose a "featured article" for the front page, since we haven't had one there in, like, months.

So, Mr. Moderate. It appears that for the most part, it's just you and I in this race?

Two moderate/independent thinking candidates running for the same seat. Fun! lol

Indeed.  Quite the roundabout way of getting to Election Day.  At least we don't need to worry about having some kind of complex second preference strategy, though!

Hope you edited the August 2007 page. Smiley Good job updating the wiki though and to Hashemite as well. I couldn't tell you the last time the featured article was updated.

Er, yeah, 2007.  Typo.  Smiley

I am running for Distirct senator is D4.

Good luck in the race Hugh. It looks like you may come back to the Senate this December Wink. At the moment your running against Gporter and possibly incumbent Brandon H. You have a better chance of winning than your last campaign.

Sen. Brandon has already said he's not running.  It's an open seat.

I'm running for the D5 senate seat because I can

wait which seat is being vacated

god i'm so high right now

D5.

I wonder who's going to win Ebowed's seat now? I don't have a clue who could it be.

Well, if Everett gets too high to take the oath of office again, at least Jesus can't just appoint someone to the seat, since it isn't regional.

It was abolished in a referendum a while back, but it'll continue to be in effect until the next elections.

Someone hasn't been paying attention to my confirmation hearings.... tsk, tsk.  Smiley

If the Pacific Lt. Governor election does not result in a winner, I will be a candidate again next weekend.

I'm not sure the Pacific's rules on it, but in general, if you are defeated by None of the Above, you are ineligable to appear on the ballot for the office next weekend.

I could not find anything specific about this in the Pacific Constitution, so please consult local law for more details.  I'm sure Governor Jesus would be glad to help you with this!

Slight note to self: And I need to stop behaving like a shadow SoFA.

Correct, all deadlines are Midnight, EDT.  Sorry if this wasn't clear.

I declare my candidacy for the Senate seat recently vacated by Sen. Jake.

You can't. It's not a runoff election, its a selection by the NLC.

Well, he can declare his intent to bid for the seat in the NLC convention, but he need not do it here.  That's a partisan affair that the DoFA has no control over.

I'm running for District 4 Senator in April.

Districts have been abolished, and Senate seats are now elected from a single nationwide district.

I will enter you as a candidate for that, unless I hear back otherwise.

I will be a candidate in the Special Election beginning April 11th. If the filing deadline is already past, I will be a write-in candidate.

Taking a page from New Jersey (and, in light of the expedited process), I am allowing filing as late as administratively feasible—the filing deadline here is April 10 at 11:59:59 PM EDT.

I will be running for Vice President on Sensei's ticket

In that case, I will be running for the Mideast Senate Seat.

The filing deadline has passed, so you would have to do so as a write-in.  Also, it should be noted that Meeker has technically not withdrawn from the Mideast Senate race despite declaring for VP.

Who else is running for Mideast Senate?  I'd like to be a write-in candidate if ya'll don't mind.

Well, if Sensei/Meeker wins and Meeker wins the Mideast Senate race, then will the 2nd place finisher win the Senate seat or would there have to be a special election?

My interpretation would be that Meeker will have to "concede" his victory in the Senate race.  The Consolidated Electoral System Reform Act calls for the second place finisher in the race to be declared the victor.

What do I have to do to run for office?

Too late to run for President, the Senate, Governor or Lieutenant Governor now. You registered a few days late. You'll have to wait until August to run for the Senate and October for the Presidency. Should I have told you that? I feel we have another Mr. Porter on our hands.

How's he similar to GPorter?

I suppose in that he's very enthusiastic about things.  Which I don't think is bad at all.

We could use some good enthusiasm around here.  I'm more than willing to give the kid a chance.  Smiley

Gporter's bad because, as enthusiastic as he is, it's clear he has no knowledge of Altasian politics and no desire to learn.

Inks, I am afraid that we have another Mr. Porter on our hands that's all. Let's hope Mr. Jackson does not turn out like the man you endorsed for the Presidency of Atlasia, and who is currently leading incumbent Senator Spade for his Southeast Senate seat.

I just asked how he's like GPorter - I don't know this new guy - somebody fill me in.

Rocky thinks his TLs and enthusiasm for Atlasia are like Garrison's.

TLs?

Timelines.
