Just saw Dead Man's Chest.  A little hard to follow, but an excellent movie.  It was very fun; it brought back all of the characters from the first one in various, creative ways.  I can't wait to see the next one next year.

Gods and Generals. The critics were idiots, again.
What did the critics have to say about it?

The Departed

Excellent movie.  Perhaps the best of the year.

I don't see what's wrong with romanticizing warfare.  It's a fact of human nature.  A society that neglects the art of war, in all facets, seals its doom.

The Shawshank Redemption

I can't believe I've never seen this movie before.  It was excellent; one of the best I've seen in a while.

The Simpsons Movie
I really liked the opening half hour or so - but I thought the latter parts of the film suffered because of the need for plot development which weighed it down a little. Worth seeing though - much better than most of the Simpsons output in recent years.

Did they show a trailer for "The Dark Knight" beforehand?
Heard anything of note about that movie lately, Andrew (casting, plot, etc..)?

I usually like when someone shows signs of a pulse when they're acting.
Not necessarily....consider the character.

American Gangster was very good.  Denzel Washington and Russel Crowe didn't pull out anything too special or new but didn't matter, they played their characters damn well.

Anyone seen Funny Games?  The trailer looked very interesting but one review I looked over said it actually got rather cliched through the majority of the movie.

Donnie Darko

More or less the pseudoscientific ramblings of your average bright college student, but I say that in the nicest way possible.  I enjoyed the movie.

What's so bad about the Temple of Doom?  It's not on the level of Raiders or Crusade, but it's still good, in my opinion.

Step Brothers

Probably Will Ferrell's best movie since Anchorman

Speaking of Coen films...

The Big Lebowski

I can't believe I waited so long to see this film...it's perhaps now one of my top 10 favorites.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

Wow....one of the best horror films I've ever seen...a hell of a lot better than any of the cheesy sh**t they make these days.
