How would a replacement candidate be chosen if Pence becomes Trumps running mate?

Trump told donors in Bel-Air on Thursday evening he would announce his choice over the weekend.

So, its not Pence then.....
Pence could still drop out tomorrow and be officially chosen this weekend, from what I have heard he has both been offed and accepted to be Trumps running mate.

Historically their is little significance where a running mate is announced.
Edwards was announced in Pennsylvania
Biden was announced in Illinois
Ryan was announced in Virginia
Not sure where Palin was announced but I am fairly certain it was not in Alaska. So I would not read to much in to news that suggests Clinton will reveal her pick in Florida. Anyways I am still thinking it will be Tim Kain.

According to WSJ Clintons VP pick is likley to be Tim Kain, according to campaign sources. In the same article it suggests that Clinton will text her supporters the pick Friday and hold a joint rally with her running mate Saturday.
