It will be interesting if her age hurts you among rich republican types since people in CT are pretensiois. Her former campaign manager who is the current GOP chair in CT defended Trumps Charlottesville comments and is good friends with Carl Higbie. Those things will hurt her.  Besides that she is probably the strongest GOP candidate, but let’s see if she wins the nomination.

She's probably the GOP's only hope to pick up a gubernatorial seat this year.

Nah, AK is probably much more likely to flip than CT. Maybe RI as well, but that’s debatable.

He was at 62% in 2016 but that dropped to 40% by November of last year.

Lamont's the elephant in the room and the best chance Democrats have of keeping the governorship.

However, the odds are very good that the GOP will take back the Governor's mansion. The economy in CT, as many of you have noted, is in dire straits. The public's loathing of Malloy is palpable. You have to visit here to see this calamity for yourself. I was sent to work in Hartford for two months late last year The bitterness, the open anger I encountered directed against the local administration, the Governor, all Democrats, is vicious. And the Democrats 'own' this misery since they control the entire government.

I just don't see an escape valve, and predict Connecticut will go to the GOP.

I live in Stamford and while people don't like Malloy they hate Trump more. If the CT GOP was smart they would distance themselves from him instead they are calling him and his administration incredible.  Saying an administration that only has a 31% approval rating in the state is a stupid move.

From that Morning Consult poll (which should be taken with a grain of salt):

Bill Walker: 29% Approve, 55% Disapprove

CT GOP is trying to prove they are not a moderate party.

The only one who would have a chance is Erin Stewart. The rest are too conservative. I this race is lean D unless Ganim becomes the democratic nominee. If he does it becomes a toss up.

Some background for the convention process in CT, and how that will affect the large GOP field.

Mark Boughton, one of the major Republican candidates for Governor, suffered a medical episode tonight.
