--Nashville has a large music scene, being the country music capital of the world.  Consequently, it pulls in a lot of aspiring musicians and other "artists".  These people tend to be younger and more socially progressive, so they vote Democratic.  It that regard, Nashville is a lot like Austin, Texas.

That's exactly the reason why the Democraticness surprises me.
Musical preferences don't necessarily determine how someone votes.  Personally, I'm a huge country music fan and support Democrats.

Country artists (especially the more folksy ones) aren't as right-wing as you'd expect.

Are there any major cities that are not Democratic, that are not in Oklahoma?

Jacksonville
Colorado Springs

I think Jacksonville voted for Obama, even if he lost the county overall.

The city and county are consolidated. So no.

Not true. There are four small municipalities that are not part of Jacksonville. (Atlantic Beach, Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach and Baldwin.) They are all very Republican, but not quite enough to tilt the city to Obama when subtracted from the county total.

San Diego

It's really the suburbs that are more Republican. San Diego itself is relatively Democratic.

Republicans are good at winning the mayoral elections there though.

National party affiliation means little at the local level. Cf. New York City.

San Diego was like 65-70% Obama. Case closed.

But wasn't the county something like 50-48 for McCain?
