"Restore our Future" has an ad out that claims, among other things (that we actually know to be true, at least) Santorum voted to let convicted felons vote.

Now I've heard a lot of things said about Santorum's record but I'm totally unfamiliar with this one. I find it hard to believe. Going too far?

Not all that  bad, honestly. It wouldn't hurt my opinion of Santorum much, and might improve it depending on the specifics.

Not bad if true. People in jail (felons included) should be able to vote. Only Maine and Vermont are doing it right:

Did Rick support allowing felons to vote, while in jail, or only after getting out of jail?

It was a proposal for federal voting rights to felons who have served their sentences.

Oh. Well I favor that then. While Hester Prynne may have been consigned to wear an scarlet "A" forever, and ever, to mark her shame, that does not mean that felons should be in the same boat and have to sport an orange-pink (the color of their prison uniform) "F" to mark theirs for life. At some point, you close the books.

Oh, ok, that's a different story. Thanks.

I don't understand why convicted felons aren't allowed to vote. Could this be one thing I agree with Santorum on?

As far as I ... cabbage?

Anyway, I think criminals should be allowed to vote as long as the crime they committed is not voter fraud or something like that.

Well, he's less utterly horrid than Romney or Gingrich. I knew that all along. Then again, it's scant praise.

This is a positive surprise. Santorum gains in my book from this.
