S*** is going down in Transnistria. It's unfolded too quickly for it to be a coincidence imo.

Less and less countries buying Russian oil, working on banning Russian gas, Finland and Sweden about to join NATO. While not a single objective in Ukraine met despite 15k lost troops... this must be Mr. Putin's strategical mastermind.

Old Trump tactic... control the media narrative by creating distractions and chaos, even if not much else is possible.

Let us appreciate the clearly audible "blyat" when the statue's head falls off.

Finally the Biden administration is coming to realize that their long-term goal should be to weaken Russia to the point of impotence, to knock them out as a Great Power once and for all, and deprive China of a key ally as the Second Cold War gets going:

Austin's assertion that US wants to 'weaken' Russia underlines Biden strategy shift

That was obvious as soon as it became clear the Russians weren't going to reach their Plan A. It also gives some assurance to Putin that the west isn't actually interested in regime change in the Kremlin: Putin can rule Russia as a totalitarian police state all he wants, as long as his military is too weak to bother anyone else. Kind of like Saddam post-1991.

There were cynics in Ukraine who thought the US was intentionally stringing them along by drip-feeding them military aid, in order to grind down the Russians into a quagmire. With the increase in speed and quality of the military aid, as well as the realization that this war will be a long slog, that cynicism has dissipated somewhat, but it won't go away.

Russia has halted gas deliveries to Poland under the Yamal contract.  European gas prices surge 17%.  Not clear what is going on (is it Poland that has disconnected Russian gas or has Russia stopped sending to Poland.)

It's kinda crazy. Within a month of the conflict, we were amazed that Russia was reaching US fatality numbers in Iraq/Afghanistan.

Now in 2 months, they've eclipsed Soviet deaths in Afghanistan (Even with low estimates) & are over 1/3 of total US deaths in Vietnam (22k in 2 months vs 58k in 20 years). Yet we're practically unfazed by it now.

Erm.......yes?

They might not actually do it, but that certainly won't just be down to their good sense.

This is just a further excuse for them for their planned "land corridors" from Kherson to Odessa Oblast which coincidentally they announced as their goals a few days ago. They are not actually starting a new front against Moldova itself right now lol.

RE: Moldova
I thought Russia troops and left to support the Ukraine invasion and the only people left in the occupation zone (sorry, independent republic) are the local separatists.

And obviously they can’t move in or supply troops, what with all of Ukraine in the way.

What could they possibly be thinking on this one?

A handful of gay guys holding off the largest army in the world? Sounds like the plot to 300.

Seems like Russia is trying out its blackmailing powers on one of the "weaker" NATO/EU members. When are those dumb assholes gonna learn that choosing escalation simply means that things are gonna escalate (for them too).

Understand that in Russian Nationalist discourse, ‘Nazi’ means ‘not Russian, Western influenced’

So gay Nazis, Jewish Nazis, etc. makes perfect sense to them. A Nazi is a westerner whose out to get Russia in their minds,

Well, seems like Bulgaria is on the menu too...

Kind of obvious that they're apparently trying not to mess with Germany, Italy, or France (bigger receivers of Russian gas than either Poland or Bulgaria) at this point, even though their present course of escalation might just as well make a general gas embargo more likely.

Also a bit dumb to lash out at Bulgaria of all places, considering it's still one of the most pro-Russian countries in the EU after Hungary.

Bulgaria has allegedly sent some ammunition through third parties, but there’s not evidence for strong support, which it could provide much more easily than other nations. Its military’s failure to modernise makes it an almost perfect candidate for supply of Soviet gear, including jets, anti-ship missiles and medium/long-range air defences.
