Statement from Tmthforu94

We'll give this a go...

I'll be announcing my new pick for the Supreme Court. Despite what the conspirators think, I'm not looking to appoint someone who I think will side with me, I'm looking for someone who I think will be active, fair, and have integrity in his position.

I hereby appoint Oakvale to the vacant spot on the Supreme Court.

Simultaneously, I'd also like to nominate Ebowed to the position of Chief Justice.

Should Yankee or a majority of the Senate not feel comfortable giving these gentlemen a fair hearing solely because of the person nominating them, my only hope is that President-elect Polnut see's in them the same qualities that I do.

Rules on Confirmation hearings can be found here. Senators may question the nominee.

Ebowed, what has been your role on the court? How do you formulate decisions? How is a chief justice different in their role from an associate justice, and how will this be a transition from what you have done in the past?

Thank you Senator.  My self-defined role as Associate Justice has been to find common ground among my colleagues in the hope of reaching decisions that generate a solid consensus.  I formulate decisions by interpreting arguments in light of our statute and the constitution, as any judge would, and though I have had few opportunities in the last year to demonstrate my ability to utilize my knowledge of these laws in an impartial manner, I feel that all of my work on the Court so far does fit this scope.  (In the interests of full disclosure, it might be worth noting that one trial over which I presided was deemed unfair by the person I ruled against, though this was part of a pattern of declarations of persecution on behalf of that particular poster, if I may speculate.)

If confirmed as Chief Justice, I would hope to deliberate over our legal proceedings with the dignity afforded to the position by my predecessors, including Chief Justice Sam Spade, whose impeccable understanding of Atlasian law helped him to establish a decorum of such professionalism that I would seek only to continue.  A court run by yours truly promises decisions that are coherent and adequately rationalized, and operations that are as transparent as is feasible.

Thank you for your reply, Justice Ebowed.  I too believe decorum and transparency are essential to a well run Court, and my impression is that you are indeed able to the task.
